For over 50 years, the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals, Light Metals Division in Skawina, specialises in the studies of casting and plastic forming of light metals and their alloys, and in the surface treatment methods for the needs of own basic research and for the development works carried out at request of the industry and other research institutes. The Accredited Laboratory of Physical Metallurgy and Chemical Analysis functioning in the Institute is equipped with modern equipment and provides high-quality research services in the field of analysis of the physico-chemical properties of light metals.

The Laboratory of Physical Metallurgy and Chemical Analysis is accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation since 2002. The accreditation covers testing methods in the fields of chemical research, mechanical and metallographic testing, physical properties testing and non-destructive testing.
Accredited tests are carried out using high-grade equipment, based on standards and own test procedures.

For over 55 years, the Skawina Division has been investigating various aspects of the processing of aluminium and aluminium alloys, and since some decades also of magnesium and magnesium alloys. We provide services in the scope of anodic oxidation of aluminium and its alloys for conservation purposes, for decoration, protection and to improve the abrasion wear resistance. We manufacture equipment for refining of aluminium and its alloys.
